Department of Transport admit there is NO time limit on funding
5/2/09The Department of Transport has finally gone on the record and dispelled the myth that we must "use or lose" the funding provisionally earmarked for the Route Partnership's harbour development schemes in Penzance and Scilly.
It has confirmed that no time-line exists and that, in fact, the funding lasts for 10 years. It has also stated its lack of interest in the planning and design particulars; it doesn't care where the freight building or passenger storage building is positioned. All that matters, according to the Department of Transport is that the majority are happy and the funding meets its objectives.
The Route Partnership have persistently used the threat that funding might be lost to try and push their plans through. This new information from the Department of Transport makes it clear that there is now time available to address unanswered questions and consider alternatives to the Route Partnership scheme.
