Planners overwhelmed by objections to Route Partnership plan
22/4/09Planning officers at Cornwall Council have received more than 650 objections to the Route Partnership’s application to build on Battery Rocks beach, and just one letter of support.
At the time of the January "pre-planning" exhibition the Route Partnership refused to bow to public opposition saying that local people would have their chance to object when the planning applications were submitted. The planning applications have been submitted and the public have rejected them and now it is time for the Route Partnership to withdraw their unpopular plans and start the process of developing alternatives that can be supported by the residents of Penzance.
Until such time as the planning applications are withdrawn, the Friends of Penzance Harbour are urging those that have not yet done so to continue to submit their objections. Objections will be received up until a few days before the planning committee meets on July 7th.
News of the number of objections comes directly from the planning officer in charge and is dated April 21st.
